Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayNeuhaus Metalworks got their hands on some 32 x 2.4″ Maxxis Aspens and decided to build a frame around them. Their latest video walks viewers through the design challenges and the realities of 32-inch bicycles. Watch it here…
One of the first bikes I shot at MADE two years ago was a special Moots Routt CRD set up with prototype 750d wheels and tires from WTB. I remember wondering whether or not a larger-than-29-inch wheel size would catch on, but seeing a brand like WTB get on board made it feel possible. Then, last fall, DirtySixer released their 32-inch gravel bike, specced with DirtySixer x VeeTire T-Monster 32 (686 BSD) x 2.40″ tires. This spring, they launched a crowdfunding campaign to produce what might be the first production 32-inch mountain bike.
We’ve seen some chatter online from other framebuilders, and it’s exciting to see a brand like Neuhaus Metalworks, which is known for its experimentation and detailed process videos, get in on the fun. Their latest video documents the process of designing a 32-inch version of their Hummingbird hardtail and the challenges of fitting 32-inch wheels into the frame. They end the video with a test ride and some final thoughts on the platform. Watch it below:
So, what do you think? Are 32-inch bikes the future? Let us know in the conversation below.
