Longtime contributor Stefan Haehnel from Berlin was one of three riders selected for the Alonukis Endurance Race Team. We’re sharing a preview of his Silk Road Mountain Race rig from Alonukis Frameworks, complete with a full set of Gramm bags. Take a peek here…

In May, we announced that talented young framebuilder Johannes Wandinger of Alonukis Frameworks in Germany was seeking a few ultra-endurance bikepacking racers for a sponsorship program. Selected riders would receive a heavily discounted Alonukis ERT (Endurance Race Team) frame to use in their endeavors. The race-specific steel frames have an essentialist design and custom geometry for each team member, featuring 29 x 2.4″ tire clearance, Boost spacing, a BSA 73mm bottom bracket, 44mm headtube, compatibility with a 100mm suspension or suspension-corrected rigid fork, 31.6mm seatpost for a 34.9/35mm seatpost clamp, external cable routing, dropper post compatibility, sliding dropouts (UDH possible), and post or flat brake mount.

One of the newly selected Alonukis ERT riders is none other than our friend and longtime contributor Stefan Haehnel, a Berlin-based photographer and accomplished ultra-distance racer. Stefan is debuting his Alonukis with a second crack at the Silk Road Mountain Race in Kyrgyzstan, which starts in just a few days. Rather than flying to the start, he rode there with his partner, and we’ll be sharing more from their journey soon.

Stefan’s hardtail is fully kitted out with a fast-and-light array of bags from Gramm Tourpacking in Berlin, including a custom Full Frame Bag, 10L Dropper Seat Bag, and Top Tube Bag, all crafted from ULTRA 100 fabric. He’s also testing out an experimental front drybag and a mini downtube bag. The demanding Silk Road Mountain Race pushes riders and their bikes to the extreme and will be a great testing ground for the ERT and prototype bags from Gramm.
