Hitter of the Day

Jasson Domínguez, OF, New York Yankees (Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre): 4-5, 2 2B, HR, R, 2 RBI, SB.
Domínguez hit .257 last year in over 400 major-league plate appearances but managed an OPS of only .719, essentially having the kind of season that would please no one—not the star that was promised or imagined, but also not proving to be the sort of washed-out bust some were expecting. His 2026 inched him towards the latter outcome, as he struggled both offensively and defensively at the big-league level, even seeing his hit tool overshadowed (for the time being, at least), eclipsed by that of Spencer Jones. It should be noted here that Jasson won’t turn 24 until the eve of next season’s spring training.
