Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayThe Boston Celtics have reached an agreement with guard Ron Harper Jr. on a new contract. While the specifics of the deal have not been made public, it is widely believed to be a non-guaranteed training camp contract.
In practical terms, this means Harper will have the opportunity to compete for a roster spot during the preseason. Still, he is most likely to begin the year with the Celtics’ G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics.
This won’t be Harper’s first experience with Boston’s system. He was part of the Celtics’ training camp last season, after which he spent time developing his game in Maine.
The 6-foot-4 guard appeared in 15 games for the Maine Celtics before being signed to a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons in early January.
Across the G League season, split between Maine and the Pistons’ affiliate, the Motor City Cruise, Harper put together solid numbers.
In 38 total games, he averaged 15.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per contest, showcasing his scoring ability and versatility on the perimeter.
