Earlier tonight at UFC Vegas 121, the grudge match between women’s bantamweight contenders Ailin Perez and Norma Dumont took place, but the fight failed to live up to expectations, with very little significant action throughout.

After a slow opening round with little action on the feet and most of the exchanges taking place on the ground, Norma Dumont began building confidence in the second. She briefly scored a takedown of her own, landed spinning attacks, and picked up the pace while controlling the center of the octagon to finish the stanza strongly.

Ailin Perez had more output overall, but neither fighter landed any significant blows.

In the final round, Perez was willing to stand and trade with Dumont. However, the Argentinian fighter repeatedly missed her targets. Dumont, on the other hand, found success with leg kicks and left hooks as she continued to control the center.

In the final seconds, Perez desperately tried to take the fight to the ground, but Dumont’s takedown defense was on point until the final second.

Official decision: Ailin Perez defeated Norma Dumont via unanimous decision (29-28 x3) at UFC Vegas 121.
