Florida has given head coach Todd Golden another contract extension, raising the total value of his deal to $49.5 million over six seasons.

The agreement runs through 2031-32 and averages $8.25 million per year, making Golden the SEC’s second-highest-paid basketball coach.

He will earn $7.5 million next season, with annual raises eventually taking his salary to $9 million.

Only Bill Self, Dan Hurley and John Calipari are set to earn more next season, while North Carolina’s Michael Malone will also make $7.5 million.

Golden’s deal is largely guaranteed, with Florida owing 85 percent of the remaining value if he is fired without cause.

His buyout for leaving begins at $16 million, while an NBA departure would carry a $3 million buyout next season.

The contract also includes a $500,000 annual longevity incentive, a $100,000 expense account and performance bonuses.

Golden has compiled a 103-41 record in four seasons at Florida, highlighted by a 36-4 campaign and the program’s third national championship in 2024-25.

Florida enters the new season as a favorite to repeat, returning nearly 82 percent of its scoring production.

Golden joined the Gators in 2022 and has now received an extension in each of the past three years as his salary has continued to rise.
