The Detroit Pistons have brought in forward Feron Hunt on a training camp contract, according to Spotrac’s Keith Smith. Detroit had an open spot on its camp roster, making Hunt the latest addition as the team evaluates depth ahead of the season.
Hunt, a 6’8” product of SMU, has limited NBA experience. He appeared in just two games with the New York Knicks during the 2021/22 season, spending most of his professional career in the G League, along with a short stint in Montenegro.
Most recently, Hunt put together an impressive 2023/24 campaign with the Cleveland Charge. In 32 regular-season games, he averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 blocks in 35.2 minutes per contest.
Across 48 total appearances for the Charge, his averages settled at 15.9 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks. His athleticism and activity level have made him a strong presence in the G League, particularly on the glass and as a defender.
Beyond the G League, Hunt also competed internationally for the G League United team in last month’s Intercontinental Cup, adding more high-level experience to his résumé.
While he’ll get a look in Detroit’s camp, it’s widely expected that Hunt will ultimately be waived and redirected to the Motor City Cruise, the Pistons’ G League affiliate.
If his deal is an Exhibit 10 contract – which is likely – he’ll be eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 should he spend at least 60 days with the Cruise.
For Detroit, the move is a low-risk way to bring another versatile forward into the pipeline, while for Hunt it’s another opportunity to showcase his growth and potentially earn a path back to the NBA.
