According to a report from Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, the Denver Nuggets have reached an agreement with free agent forward Kessler Edwards.

Edwards, who just celebrated his 25th birthday this past Saturday, has built a reputation for consistency and reliability since entering the league.

A 44th overall pick out of Pepperdine University in the 2021 NBA Draft, he has appeared in at least 36 games in each of his first four seasons.

His most recent campaign included a particularly strong stretch with the Dallas Mavericks during the second half of the 2024–25 season, when the team was dealing with a rash of injuries to key frontcourt players.

Stepping into a larger role from February 10 through March 19, Edwards averaged 8.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists across 24.8 minutes per game.

During that span, he posted an exceptionally efficient shooting line of 53.8% from the field, 48.6% from three-point range, and 90.0% from the free-throw line.

He started in 14 of the 16 games he played over that stretch, only stepping back from the lineup once he reached the NBA’s two-way contract games-played limit.

In total for the season, Edwards logged 40 games with Dallas, including 18 starts, and averaged 4.2 points and 2.9 rebounds in 15.2 minutes per contest, shooting 49.6% overall, 40.7% from deep, and 92.3% from the foul line.

Across his career, which has included stints with the Brooklyn Nets, Sacramento Kings, and Mavericks, he holds averages of 3.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12.7 minutes per game over 178 appearances.

Scotto has not officially disclosed details of the Nuggets’ agreement with Edwards.

However, Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette reports via Twitter that it is a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract – a type of deal often used to bring players into training camp with the possibility of converting the contract or sending them to the G League.

At present, Denver has 14 players on guaranteed standard contracts. While this leaves an opening for Edwards to potentially earn a spot as the 15th man on the roster, the Nuggets are already slightly above the luxury tax threshold.

That financial consideration could prompt the team to keep the final roster spot open at the start of the season.

Since Edwards is no longer eligible for a two-way contract, his path to sticking with Denver will depend on how he performs during camp and preseason play.
