National Football League legend Ray Lewis could potentially compete on the wrestling mats for the first time since high school.

Real American Freestyle wrestling continues to take off as multiple UFC stars, including Khamzat Chimaev, Arman Tsarukyan, and Colby Covington, have competed on the RAF mats. The upstart promotion is days away from hosting its latest major event, headlined by Covington vs. former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad.

RAF has attracted investors outside of combat sports, including NFL great Ray Lewis and other top names in athletics and business. Lewis was on the Professional Fighters League advisory board and is an avid Mixed Martial Arts fan.

According to recent reports, Lewis is ready to take his combat sports fandom to another level.

As reported by MMA Fighting‘s Mike Heck, Lewis is reportedly in talks to wrestle on the Real American Freestyle mats at a future event.

According to Heck, former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley is working to get Lewis’ debut over the finish line in negotiations.

Before turning his attention full-time to Football, Lewis was a standout wrestler at Kathleen High School in Lakeland, Florida. He helped Kathleen earn a wrestling state championship during his high school career.

Lewis spent his entire NFL career with the Baltimore Ravens, winning two Super Bowls with the franchise. He won the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2000 and 2003, and appeared in 13 Pro Bowls.

As of this writing, it’s uncertain if Lewis will appear on the RAF mats and against whom, but he seems serious about competing. Regardless of the opponent, Lewis will likely intimidate his opposition like he did many quarterbacks and running backs during his football career.
