New details have emerged about the death of Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke, who was found dead at his San Fernando Valley home on May 11.

According to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s death report, investigators found “vape devices, cannabis products, prescription medications, injectable peptides, syringes, a box of Narcan, blister packets of medications, vitamins and other medical evidence” inside and around Clarke’s bedroom and bathroom.

Officials also reported finding “a plate containing [an] unknown white powdery substance and a hotel key card” on the kitchen counter.

“The cause of death is attributed to effects of heroin and cocaine,” the investigation summary stated. “Combined effects of multiple prescription medications are listed as contributory. The manner of death is classified as accident.”

Clarke’s roommate reportedly told investigators that the 29-year-old had a history of drug use and had previously attended rehabilitation programs.

The Grizzlies selected Clarke in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft. He spent seven seasons with Memphis and was playing under a $52 million contract at the time of his death.

“We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of Brandon Clarke,” the Grizzlies said following his death. “Brandon was an outstanding teammate and an even better person whose impact on the organization and the greater Memphis community will not be forgotten.”

Clarke had also been arrested in Arkansas several weeks before his death after authorities said they discovered 235.6 grams of kratom in his vehicle. That case remained pending when he died.
