Negotiations between restricted free agent Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls remain at a standstill, with the two sides far apart on contract terms.

According to league sources, Giddey is seeking a deal worth roughly $30 million per year, while the Bulls have held firm at offers averaging $20 million annually.

Chicago’s opening proposal reportedly came in at four years, $80 million – and despite continued discussions, the team has shown little inclination to move beyond that figure.

Giddey, a 22-year-old guard known for his playmaking and size, believes his production and potential warrant a significantly higher salary.

Around the league, other teams have expressed interest in the former sixth overall pick, but the Brooklyn Nets are currently the only franchise with the cap space to extend him a substantial offer sheet.

While some clubs have explored sign-and-trade possibilities, Chicago has been hesitant to engage, creating uncertainty about the team’s broader direction.

Executives from rival teams say it’s been difficult to gauge whether the Bulls intend to pivot toward a rebuild by moving veteran players or continue building around their current core.

For now, Giddey’s future remains in limbo – with Chicago holding the right to match any outside offer, but unwilling so far to meet his price.
