Zurdo Ramirez retained his WBA and WBO cruiserweight titles with an earned decision win over Yuniel Dorticos tonight in Anaheim, and just might have Jai Opetaia targeted for a three-belt unification.

Ramirez improved to 48-1 (30 KO) on scores of 115-112, 115-112, and 117-110. Some will believe that the first two scores were a bit closer than Dorticos (27-3, 25 KO) really deserved, but it was a nip-and-tuck sort of fight for five, maybe six rounds, before Zurdo really took over the fight, flustering Dorticos with his superior gas tank and ability to land clean shots. The 39-year-old Dorticos fought well at points but was the obviously more tired fighter down the stretch.

“I think it was a good performance,” Ramirez said. “My opponent was tough, he can hit. ... I think I won the whole fight, but (the scores) is what it is.”

There has been talk of the WBA and WBC ranking Jake Paul should Paul impress tonight against Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, but Zurdo says he does want to face IBF titleholder Jai Opetaia, which would be the actual best fight to make in the cruiserweight division.

“(Opetaia) is the fight that I want,” he confirmed. “I’m the king. Get my phone (number) and call me. I want it. Be ready.”
