The New York Yankees were struggling so much during their series with the Boston Red Sox that it seemed as if they needed some divine intervention to get back on track. Well, it's possible that's exactly what happened on Sunday night when Jazz Chisholm Jr. powered the Yankees to a 7-2 win.

New York avoided being swept by the Red Sox and secured its 70th win of the season thanks to a pair of home runs each from Chisholm and Trent Grisham.

And while Grisham now has 25 on the year, Chisholm was the story of the night. He hit the most memorable blast of New York's four and then reve aled what made his performance extra special after the game.

Chisholm's first long ball, which came with one on and one out in the second inning, was the 100th of his young career.

In the middle of his sixth MLB season and first full year with the Yankees, the 27-year-old infielder has already reached triple digits in home runs.

He then crushed another one, adding insurance runs with a two-run shot in the eighth. His 101st career home run tied his single-season best of 24, a mark he set last season the Miami Marlins and then finishing up with the Yankees following the midseason trade.

But instead of celebrating his personal achievements and his team's much-needed win, Chisholm sounded a bit subdued when talking with reporters. He even referred to the night as surreal.

"It felt kinda surreal. I lost my best friend yesterday. So today felt like a different type of day, especially with the 100th home run coming today," explained Chisholm.

And once Chisholm's entire weekend was put into perspective, calling the moment "surreal" seems appropriate and fitting.

Following up such a big loss with such a big game will make the 2025 season special for Chisholm no matter what happens the rest of the way.
