Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Sports Fundraising Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in securing the financial support needed to advance our sports programs and initiatives. This role requires a strategic thinker with a passion for sports, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in fundraising.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies: Create comprehensive fundraising plans that align with the organization’s goals and objectives. Identify potential funding sources and craft tailored approaches to secure support.
  • Donor cultivation and stewardship: Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors. Ensure that donors are engaged and appreciated through regular communication and recognition efforts.
  • Grant writing and management: Research and apply for relevant grants. Prepare compelling grant proposals and manage all reporting requirements. Track and report on grant performance.
  • Corporate partnerships: Identify and develop partnerships with businesses and corporations. Negotiate sponsorship deals and create mutually beneficial collaborations.
  • Marketing and communication: Work closely with the marketing team to create fundraising campaigns that effectively communicate the organization’s mission and impact. Utilize various channels such as social media, email, and direct mail to reach potential donors.
  • Data management and analysis: Maintain accurate records of all fundraising activities and donor interactions. Analyze data to assess the effectiveness of fundraising strategies and identify areas for improvement.
  • Budget management: Develop and manage the fundraising budget. Monitor expenses and ensure that fundraising efforts provide a positive return on investment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in the sports sector. Proven success in securing major gifts, grants, and sponsorships.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Proficiency in fundraising software and CRM systems.
    • Knowledge of marketing and public relations techniques.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
