Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayMale’, Maldives, July 31, 2025 – The FIVB Coaches Course Level 1 in the Maldives from July 27-31, 2025 concluded with a closing ceremony at Haruge, Social Centre in Malé. The event marked the successful end of a five-day intensive training program aimed at developing volleyball coaches from across the region and beyond.
Abdulla Rafiu
The Chief Guest of the ceremony was the Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation, Hon. Abdulla Rafiu, who in his remarks emphasized the importance of a strong and trusting coach-athlete relationship. He also highlighted the growing need to focus on injury prevention and athlete safety in modern sports.
Mohamed Latheef
Also present at the closing ceremony was Mr Mohamed Latheef, President of the Volleyball Association of Maldives (VAM), President of Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) as well as Executive Vice President of Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC), and Zonal Executive Vice President of AVC. In his address, Mr Latheef congratulated all the participants and encouraged them to actively engage with young athletes and help raise the standard of the sport in their respective countries.
Mohamed Saeed
VAM Secretary General Mr Mohamed Saeed also addressed the attendees, reminding coaches that their newly earned certificate carries with it a great responsibility – to the volleyball community, the athletes, and the sport itself. He emphasized that coaches are instrumental in the growth, learning, and success of players.
Sridharan
FIVB Instructor Mr G.E. Sridharan from India provided an overview of the course structure, highlighting the blend of theory and practical components covered over the five days.
A total of 45 participants successfully completed the course, representing India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Singapore, Japan, Colombia, the United Kingdom, the Philippines, Thailand, and the Maldives. This marked the first time VAM has hosted such a diverse group of international participants in a single coaching program – a significant milestone in the Association’s commitment to regional and global volleyball development.
Special recognitions were awarded to outstanding participants:
- Ms. Subby Singh (India) and Mr. Abi Adhithiyan (India) – Best in Theory Test
- Mr. Hikaru Suzuki (Japan) – Best in Practical Test
- Mr.Giang Villan Jesus Andre Kafa (Colombia) – Overall Performer of the Course
The FIVB Coaches Course Level 1 marked another successful milestone in VAM’s ongoing efforts to strengthen volleyball development in the Maldives and the wider region, in collaboration with FIVB.
