As the 2025 AMA 250/450 National Motocross Championship complete the Spring portion of the series with round four being completed at the High Point track in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. It ended with the same 250 overall winner as in three of the last four races as Haiden Deegan reasserted his place on the top step of the podium (after relinquishing the overall to Honda’s Chance Hymas last weekend in Lakewood, Colorado). Unfortunately Hymas crashed on the last lap of the second 250 moto, but remounted and pulled off after the checkered flag, pointing at his right knee and grimacing in pain.
The 450 class was another win for Jett Lawrence, although he didn’t go 1-1 as Eli Tomac totally dominated the second moto, which was held in a pouring rainstorm—which surprisingly made one half of the track super muddy and super slippery while the other half had wasn’t as wet. The Mount Morris round of the Championship took place under overcast skies for the first three motos of the day, but the skies opened up for the final 450 moto. Eli Tomac would go on to dominate the second 450 moto and end up third overall with a 5-1. However, the AMA Red Flagged the final 450 moto with seven minutes to go on the official clock. The AMA officials said that lightning was within an eight-mile radius of the track and that was too close for comfort. The Red Flag had no effect on Tomac’s moto win, but the timing of it, did mean that Jett Lawrence’s 1-3 was able to edge out his brother’s 2-2. Hunter Lawrence has yet to win a 450 National so far in his career—losing mostly to his brother at every turn.
The AMA Nationals will take a week off before the Summer portion of the series begins at Southwick on June 29.
Eli Tomac (3) proved once again that if he gets the start and can ride away from the 450 pack.
