Cooper Webb Set for “Minor Procedure” on Knee Following RedBud Injury, Out Until SMX Playoffs

Concord, NC SMX Playoff 1SuperMotocross World Championship

As we covered earlier this week, it was a tough outing for Cooper Webb at the RedBud National over the weekend. Webb twisted his knee in the second qualifying session, then was dead last with bent bars after a second turn crash early in moto one. He charged up to tenth but then ran out of gas in the final turn on the final lap. The 2025 450SX Monster Energy AMA Supercross Champion did bounce back to finish eighth in moto two, ending his day with a finish about where he has been every moto so far this summer. The end of Webb’s quote in a post-race release from Yamaha said the following:

“Overall, it was a very rough day physically and mentally, but my riding was good. I’m going to get my knee checked out on Monday to make sure that we are all good.”

Now, Yamaha has provided an update, stating Webb will “undergo a minor procedure to have his knee cleaned up.” The statement also notes he will miss the remainder of Pro Motocross and will focus on his return in the SuperMotocross World Championship Playoff round one in September. Webb (516 points) currently leads the 450SMX qualifying standings, as he has a 14-point lead over teammate Justin Cooper (502 points). Webb will likely drop several positions and enter in a deficit as opposed to having the three-point advantage. View the full standings below.

Rider Update: Cooper Webb will undergo a minor procedure to have his knee cleaned up after injuring it during the second qualifying session at RedBud. The @monsterenergy @yamahamotorusa Star Racing rider holds the top spot of the 450SMX combined points standings and will now focus on returning to full fitness for the opening @supermotocross Playoff round in Charlotte.

“I’m extremely bummed that I’ll be missing the upcoming rounds of Pro Motocross. I had a personal goal to make all 31 rounds this season and I’m disappointed to surrender the SMX championship lead this way. On the positive side, it’s a quick fix and recovery. I’ll get a small procedure done on Monday and should be back on the bike in around a month so that we can prepare for the opening playoff round in Charlotte.” - Cooper Webb
