As discussed in earlier BC threads such as:
http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/150202-Blocked-Holes

Common in many of today's modern rackets with more than 72 holes/grommets (Yonex's Voltric and Victor's Meteor series), a stringer will encounter instances where the main strings will cover/block a cross grommet. Awls and string mover tools are common approaches to unblock and open up the cross grommet when weaving.

Another tool to consider is to use loose scrap string (about 6 inches).

Directions:
1) Thread the scrap string between the two main grommets such that it is perpendicular and held to the frame by the main string. It is easier to do this prior to applying tension to the main.

2) When it comes time to weave the cross string into the blocked cross grommet, simply pull gently on both ends of the scrap string up/down to uncover the cross grommet.

3) You can now then thread the string through!

Below is a video illustrating this:

For the loops, I find that the thinner the string, the better - a thin string won't be pressed into the frame as hard, and will come out with less friction.

As to which way to pull the loop, there's usually more of the cross hole visible on one side than the other, making a "natural" direction; if you get it wrong, you'll know it.

I'm only using the NBG95. I cut it into ~10 cm pieces and using a starting clamp to pull on them.

Thanks for the extra details! Zymax 62 is a good candidate for scrap string. I find hard string like bg-80 helpful for the instances when i forget to put the scrap string before pulling the mains. The tip won't bend as easily when trying to push the string through with needle nose pliers.

Just had to do this for a Meteor - that 7-8 mains loop is ridiculous. I know why some of the tournament stringers don't bother with the bottom cross...

Used this om my Z-Force 2 last Friday, worked like a charm!

How the Z-Force 2 grommets are designed, you shouldn't really need to use this approach for the top crosses. It might be needed for bottom cross (b11)

Right. I've been using this technique for years and I never use it for the VTZF2. The VT70 and VT80 E-Tune don't need it either.

Old thread, but was wondering if anyone had advice. I'm fairly new to stringing and I was stringing my 88d 3rd gen. I had inserted a scrap piece of string for A7 blocked grommet, but no matter how I moved it, the mains' string would not move. Any other tips?
