Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) left-arm fast bowler Yash Dayal is facing severe backlash after being accused of sexual assault. The 26-year-old, who recently played a key role in RCB’s triumphant IPL 2025 campaign, has seen his cricketing commitments put on hold as the allegations take centre stage. The news has sparked a wave of debate among fans and officials, with calls growing for an impartial and transparent investigation into the matter.

UPT20 League reportedly bans Yash Dayal from participating in 2025 edition

Following the emergence of the allegations, the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) has reportedly, as per Dainik Jagran, decided to bar Yash Dayal from taking part in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh T20 League (UPT20). The left-arm pacer had been roped in by the Gorakhpur Lions for INR 7 lakh and was seen as a key figure in their bowling unit for the tournament, which commenced on August 17.

Dayal’s ability to deliver in pressure situations and his recent IPL experience were expected to give the Lions a competitive edge. His sudden removal not only forces the franchise to rethink its bowling combination but also delivers a significant blow to his own domestic career trajectory, especially at a time when he was looking to build on his IPL success.

Dayal yet to respond publicly

Despite the mounting attention, Dayal has not issued a public statement regarding the accusations. People close to the bowler claim he is fully cooperating with authorities and continues to assert his innocence. While he has yet to represent India at the international level, Dayal has featured in 43 IPL matches for Gujarat Titans and RCB, claiming 41 wickets at a high economy rate of almost 10 runs per over. With his immediate cricketing future uncertain, much will depend on the outcome of the ongoing legal process.
