Dana White dismisses Francis Ngannou returning to UFC after past turmoil

Dana White doesn’t want to do business with Francis Ngannou again.

Ngannou had a well-documented split from UFC in early 2023. “The Predator” successfully defended the promotion’s heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane, which was the final bout on his deal at the time. The two sides failed to reach an agreement, and Ngannou moved on to have lucrative boxing matches with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

There are some questions surrounding Ngannou’s future in MMA. He recently parted ways with PFL, and while he did compete on the MVP MMA 1 card, “The Predator” only signed on for one fight. Appearing on “Nightcap” with NFL legends Shannon Sharpe and Chad Ochocinco, White was asked if there’s any chance Ngannou could return for a clash with Jon Jones.

The UFC boss remains sour on Ngannou (via MMAFighting).

“Listen, Ngannou is on my Oscar De La Hoya list,” White said. “Look at the history of Francis Ngannou and the other companies he’s been with. He’s a bad guy and I’m at a point in my life where I just don’t want to do business with bad guys. I just don’t.”

Ngannou made his issues with the UFC brass clear. He felt the company didn’t treat him with respect, and he took issue with how limited he was despite being an independent contractor. White fired back, claiming Ngannou tried using intimidation tactics on him and UFC chief business officer Hunter Campbell.

While both sides continue to debate, there appears to be no sign of reconciliation. White’s comments are in the midst of uncertainty in UFC’s heavyweight division. Main champion Tom Aspinall remains sidelined as he awaits further testing on his eyes. Gane is the current interim champion, and some have been critical of a potential rematch with Alex Pereira amid rumors and speculation.
