Despite ongoing speculation linking Oklahoma City to Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Thunder are not expected to pursue a blockbuster trade for the Bucks superstar, nor are they considering moving Chet Holmgren.

According to Joe Mussatto of The Oklahoman, the organization remains confident in its current core and sees little reason to make a dramatic change after another deep playoff run.

While Oklahoma City fell short against San Antonio in the Western Conference Finals, the Thunder were dealing with significant injuries and received limited production from Holmgren, who struggled by his standards throughout the series.

Mussatto argues that acquiring Antetokounmpo would introduce considerable risk.

Beyond concerns about playoff durability, the former MVP is older than Oklahoma City’s young stars and would significantly increase the team’s financial commitments moving forward.

The report also states that including Jalen Williams in any potential deal would be a “non-starter” for the franchise.

Likewise, moving Holmgren would undermine the team’s long-term vision by affecting its “chemistry, competitive timeline and financial flexibility.”
