Quentin Grimes is expected to draw significant interest from contending teams when NBA free agency opens this summer.

NBA insider Evan Sidery reported on June 6 that Grimes is likely to command a salary in the range of the mid-level exception, adding that his two-way versatility has made him an attractive target for teams looking to strengthen their rotation.

The 26-year-old guard is set to become an unrestricted free agent after completing the 2025-26 season with the Philadelphia 76ers. While Philadelphia’s season ended in a second-round sweep against the New York Knicks, Grimes was one of the team’s most dependable perimeter contributors throughout the year.

In 75 games, including 19 starts, Grimes averaged 13.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists in 29.4 minutes per game. He shot 45.0% from the field and converted 84.0% of his free throws while serving in a variety of roles alongside Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Paul George.

The former first-round pick also provided roster flexibility. Philadelphia regularly used him as both a shooting guard and secondary ball-handler, while his defensive versatility allowed him to match up against multiple perimeter positions.

That combination of skills is particularly valuable for playoff-caliber teams. Organizations with championship aspirations often prioritize players who can contribute without requiring high usage, defend opposing guards and wings, and provide reliable floor spacing in reserve units.
