Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayErrol Spence Jr. has been out of the ring long enough that even small signs of life are getting attention ahead of his July 25 fight against Tim Tszyu in Australia.
Teofimo Lopez believes Spence already looks physically ready for the move up to a 158-pound catchweight fight after nearly two years away from competition. Spence has not fought since his ninth-round stoppage loss to Terence Crawford in July 2023. Tszyu, meanwhile, has stayed active through a rough stretch that included losses to Sebastian Fundora and Bakhram Murtazaliev.
“I really want to see [Spence] win. I think Errol Spence has been truly non-stop working out. He already looks like he’s in shape.
“With the sparring and everything, he’ll look great [against Tszyu],” said Teofimo Lopez on Fight Hub TV.
Tszyu heads into the fight with far more recent ring time. The former WBO junior middleweight champion has fought seven times since Spence’s loss to Crawford. Spence, now 36, is trying to restart his career in a heavier weight class after losing his welterweight titles to Crawford in one of the biggest defeats of his career.
The fight also carries pressure for Tszyu. Another loss would leave the Australian further away from returning to title contention at 154 pounds after back-to-back defeats damaged his standing last year.
Lopez did not break down the matchup itself, but his comments focused on Spence’s condition after the long layoff. That has been one of the biggest questions surrounding the fight since it was announced.
