So, what better way to put doubts to bed than by scoring just minutes into your debut?

As it turns out, this Savio star is a lot more clinical in front of goal than Man City's Savinho ever was and it's Spurs who are set to reap the rewards.

Why Savio and Marmoush could fire Spurs to top six finish

It may sound absurd after De Zerbi's side were pushed aside by Brentford and Newcastle in all too familiar fashion, but the additions of Savio and Omar Marmoush should transform Tottenham's frontline. They could even fire the Lilywhites back into the top six by the end of their debut campaigns.

They both solve key problems. At long last, Savio will solve Spurs' left-wing problem, which they've had since the departure of club legend Heung-min Son.

The Brazilian is not the finished product, but he is exciting, brave in possession, and full of potential. In a side which should be full of intensity under De Zerbi, he could thrive.

It's worth taking a look back at his debut campaign to see just what the winger is capable of when he gets a run of games under his belt. In the 2024/25 campaign, Savio ended the season with 20 goal involvements in all competitions and was one of the best dribblers in the Premier League.

Numbers have dipped since then, but Savio's potential hasn't simply disappeared. This is a player who, when platformed right, can become an excellent signing for Tottenham.

Interestingly enough, Mohammed Kudus also made the cut in that same season. He's since enjoyed similar numbers in north London and will complete a winger pairing who thrive one-on-one.

And the man who will reap the rewards of those take-ons is Omar Marmoush. The forward is on his way to Spurs, joining former Man City teammate Savio in the process.

In a system designed around drawing the opposition press from within the backline and then playing quickly using the space in-behind, Marmoush is the perfect option.

The new duo are very much the present of this Spurs attack under a manager who should be the perfect fit. But the good news for the Lilywhites is that their future option could be even more exciting.

The real future of Tottenham's attack

When asked about his aims last season, a certain Luca Williams-Barnett - as confident as ever - claimed that he wanted to 'win every game and score in every game'.

To some, that may sound like arrogance from a young footballer, but the reality is that same young player scored 16 goals in 20 games last season. He very nearly backed up his aims in full.

At just 17 years old, the attacking midfielder has shown 'shades of Dele' according to journalist Sean Walsh, and very much represents the future of Tottenham's attack just like the former star once did.

He's already done enough to impress manager De Zerbi too. Speaking about the young talent that he's got on his hands, the Italian told reporters after Williams-Barnett featured in a pre-season friendly against Sydney FC: "We have to manage him like a precious diamond. We have to help him to improve in the last decision. Physically, work harder to become stronger because this time of football, he needs to be strong, and to give him space when there is the right moment. I usually give time to all the young players I work with in my career, and he is a potential special player.”

Sure, the level of some of Tottenham's opponents - MK Dons and Auckland FC - may not have been particularly high in pre-season but the teenager still stood out against senior players. He even scored a ridiculous panenka penalty in the shoot-out against Sydney FC.

It was that performance against MK that was truly Dele-esque, attempting a whopping six dribbles and completing three key passes in just 45 minutes.

He also had as many as five shots in the match with Auckland in New Zealand. This is a special talent, a player celebrated as "one of England's best talents at youth level" by Como scout Ben Mattinson.

So, as the hype begins to build around Marmoush and Savio, it is actually Williams-Barnett who could be the most exciting emerging star to watch in the next 12 months.
