Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayWhen the first round of the SMX Playoffs 1 race at zMAX Dragway was called early on Saturday due to continued lightning in the area, the SMX Next World All-Stars was the class that missed out most. The top A and B riders were set to compete in their race of a two-round championship, similar to the 250SMX and 450SMX classes having single points at the opening round then double points at the second round. But when the rainstorm and the lightning started Saturday, the SMX Next World All-Stars main event was going to be the very next session on track. Then, the delay happened and two hours later, the official call was made to cancel the second motos entirely, as well as the SMX Next World All-Stars race. So, what happens now?
The SMX Next World All-Stars will now race both on Friday AND Saturday at this weekend's SMX Playoffs 2 race in St. Louis, Missouri. The post-race recap from Saturday, written and provided by the SuperMotocross League, stated the following:
"The SMX Next class, comprised of up-and-coming amateur athletes, completed their qualifying earlier in the day and were ready to compete in their one-moto format. Due to the event being called early, the young racers will now line up according to their Concord qualifying results – on Friday, September 12th in St. Louis at The Dome at America’s Center. The class will then compete on Saturday in St. Louis as planned for the SMX Next World Championship race."
So, Friday's main event will count as the makeup for the missed North Carolina race and will count as single points, then we will have a full reset for Saturday. The riders will go through qualifying Saturday, lining them up with their gate picks for the main event, which will then be double points. When the checkered flag waves Saturday, we will crown our SMX Next World All-Stars Champion. Stay tuned for the full Friday and Saturday schedules for this weekend.
