Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayStevenson says he “would love” IBF title fight after 140-pound move
Shakur Stevenson says he would return to lightweight for a fight with IBF champion Raymond Muratalla. The move would put him back into the title picture at 135 pounds.
“I would love to make that fight happen. I think that Raymond Muratalla is a great fighter. I definitely see his game where he does a lot of great things. He is long, tall and he has got a great right hand,” Stevenson said on The Agnews Podcast.
Stevenson entered 2026 holding the WBC lightweight title before moving up to super lightweight for his fight against Lopez. After defeating Teofimo for the WBO 140-pound belt, Stevenson appeared ready to continue campaigning in the division and even mentioned the possibility of eventually moving to welterweight.
Muratalla, meanwhile, retained the IBF lightweight title earlier this year with a majority decision victory over Andy Cruz in one of the biggest wins of his career. The California native has since been linked to the winner of the planned eliminator between Cruz and Albert Bell.
Muratalla was elevated from interim to full IBF lightweight champion in June 2025 following the retirement of Vasiliy Lomachenko. He later retained the belt with a majority decision victory over Andy Cruz earlier this year.
Stevenson’s situation at lightweight also remains unusual because he never lost the WBC title in the ring. The belt became vacant after he moved to super lightweight and was later stripped over unpaid sanctioning fees following his victory against Teofimo Lopez.
A return to lightweight would immediately place Stevenson back into the title picture against one of the division’s tallest champions and one of the few belt holders currently without a mandatory challenger finalized.
