Nicolas Vennekens of the VNT KTM Racing Team faced setbacks during the twelfth round of the MX2 World Championship at the British track of Matterley Basin.
After posting the 23rd fastest time in timed practice, things went wrong early in the qualifying race. Vennekens crashed and sustained an injury, forcing him to withdraw from the race.
On Sunday morning, Vennekens felt fit and was determined to make the most of the situation. He got off to a strong start in the first moto and stayed in touch with the group battling for points. However, a heavy crash cost him valuable time. Despite the setback, Vennekens continued to push and crossed the finish line in 21st place—just one spot short of scoring a point.

In the second moto, Vennekens made contact with another rider in the heat of battle. The impact caused the chain to come off his bike, forcing him to retire from the race.
With no Grand Prix races scheduled for the next two weekends, Vennekens will now focus on preparing for the upcoming round in Finland, which takes place on the weekend of July 12–13.
