Sean Strickland entertains fans during UFC 312 presser

UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland isn’t happy with his current UFC contract.

Strickland was widely expected to fight in December as he defends his middleweight title against Nassourdine Imavov. Yet, that fight didn’t get booked as Strickland is having a pay dispute.

Strickland believes he should get more money than he’s getting as a champion, especially with how much boxers are getting. So, Strickland said he’s trying to box and already knows Jake Paul is interested in boxing him.

So, if the UFC doesn’t let him box, or pay him more, Sean Strickland said he will fight and make it as boring as possible for the fans.

Sean Strickland threatens UFC

“So you guys, I’ve fought for the title four times, won it twice, beat all the boogeymen in the division, and hell, I’ve fought half of the division already,” Strickland said on his Instagram. “I want to box; I want to go put a boxing title on my mantle; I deserve it. Hell, I don’t even do MMA, I just box. I will put hands on any boxer; Jake Paul wants to give me a big ol’ bag of money to fight him. I’m under contract.

“Fine, I’ll go to Zuffa. I’ll go beat your cruiserweight champ, easy. But let me tell you something about the UFC. I’m going to tell the quiet part out loud that nobody says. The UFC doesn’t pay you enough to walk away. The UFC builds a legacy and doesn’t pay you enough, so you have to come back and ruin your legacy. I don’t want to do that. I want to fight, I want to box, so we are trying to work that out. If the UFC says, we are going to make you fight. I’m going to stick-and-move; you guys will boo, hell, I’ll boo with you. Collect my check and move on.”

Strickland clearly isn’t happy with his contract and would like more money. Whether or not the UFC will oblige is to be seen, but for now, the middleweight champion won’t be fighting anytime soon.
