Jon Jones has fired back at Colby Covington in the midst of negativity surrounding his mentorship of Gable Steveson.

Jones took Steveson under his wing early on in the former Olympian’s MMA journey. Things started off well for Steveson, who went 4-0 with all of those victories ending in a finish. Steveson was even victorious in his UFC debut, but a 12-second knockout loss to Sean Sharaf back in September have left some questioning his allegiance to “Bones.”

Covington has perhaps been the biggest detractor, calling Jones a “horrible person” and urging Steveson to ditch the surefire future UFC Hall of Famer. In a response on his X account, Jones put Covington on blast for being “obsessed” with him.

“It’s funny that you blame Gable’s loss on my ‘negative energy.’ Meanwhile, I’m an undefeated fighter living the absolute American dream,” Jones wrote. “Before he was caught, our guy had finished every opponent in the first round. Your logic doesn’t make any sense.

“I also find it funny that you, of all people, are commenting on my supposedly negative energy. I travel the world alone and get mobbed by fans, while you need full-time security in your own country.

“You come out once a quarter to do an interview about me and what a terrible person I am. Boy, you’re obsessed with me. A blind man could see that.

“We started off in the same dorm room, yet I’ve earned and achieved literally ten times more than you have.

“I genuinely hope that one day you start to feel better. It sucks to even have to address you. … again.”

Jones also slammed Covington for his late 2024 loss to Joaquin Buckley. He even claimed that Covington was released by UFC as opposed to the MMA retirement claims.

Jones and Covington were once college roommates, but the two had a falling out. Covington has ripped Jones several times throughout the years in media interviews. “Bones” doesn’t often respond to his former friend, but this was an exception.
