Rory McIlroy, a three-time FedEx Cup champion, has the second-shortest odds to win this week's Tour Championship in Atlanta, and his odds are still five times longer than Scottie Scheffler's.

Scheffler was listed at +160 Wednesday at ESPN BET, followed by McIlroy at +850. No other player has odds shorter than 12-1 at the sportsbook.

At +160, Scheffler's odds are the shortest of his PGA career, albeit against a condensed 30-player field. They're also the shortest odds for any player to win a PGA Tour event (excluding starting strokes) since Tiger Woods was even money to win the 2009 Tour Championship, according to ESPN Research.

Despite the short odds, bettors are gravitating to Scheffler, who, as of Tuesday, had attracted 33% of the total amount of money wagered on the tournament's winner at DraftKings. That's nearly as much as has had been bet on next top three contenders (McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Russell Henley) combined.

The tournament at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta will begin without the starting strokes used in previous years, and the winner will be crowned FedEx Cup champion.

Jeff Sherman, who has been a respected golf oddsmaker in Las Vegas for three decades, estimated that Scheffler would be around +350 against a full field this week with the season-long championship at stake.

Scheffler has finished in the top 10 in each of his last 13 PGA Tour starts, the second-longest streak ever behind Jack Nicklaus, who has 14 consecutive top 10s in 1977. Scheffler has won five times on tour this season.

"Best we've seen since good Tiger [Woods]," Sherman of the Westgate SuperBook said of Scheffler.

Fleetwood is 12-1, followed by Ludvig Åberg and Henley, who are each 16-1.
