Ryan Garcia posted on social media on Friday night, saying he’d like to fight Devin Haney at the White House. Haney quickly shot back, telling him to “get back on your drug testing, then.”
Garcia Still Wants Rematch
Surprisingly, Garcia (24-2, 20 KOs) is still interested in fighting Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) despite his loss to tune-up opponent Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero. That was supposed to set up their rematch in October, but Kingry failed to do his part by getting beaten by Rolly.
A rematch might be worthless at this point, especially if Haney gets blown out of the water by WBO welterweight champion Brian Norman Jr. in November. Although Devin is technically the favorite with the oddsmaker, Norman Jr. has an excellent chance of knocking him out.
Garcia is coming off of hand surgery after his 12-round unanimous decision loss to Rolly at Times Square in New York City on May 2nd. Golden Boy promoter Oscar De La Hoya says he’d like for Ryan to take the remainder of 2025 off, saying he needs to “get his mind straight and comfortable” and “get his life in order.”
If Garcia wants to fight a rematch with Haney in his next fight, he’ll have to take the rest of the year off because Devin is fighting Brian Norman Jr. in November. Assuming Devin is knocked out badly in that fight, he won’t be available to fight until the first half of next year. He’s not going to rush back to fight Ryan in December after being stopped by Brian Jr.
Avenge Romero Loss
Ryan should try to avenge his loss to Romero because it would look bad if he doesn’t at least try to show the loss was a fluke. Walking away from a loss like that would make Garcia look scary.
Get back on your drug testing then.. https://t.co/atc5kbrAjY
