Paul Pierce has been ordered to make monthly child support payments to Princess Santiago for their son, although the amount is considerably lower than what she had requested.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the former NBA star must pay $8,508 per month for his son, King Rafael Santiago Pierce.

The judge described the arrangement as temporary, meaning the amount could still be adjusted as the case moves forward.

Pierce was also ordered to contribute toward Santiago’s legal expenses. He must pay $100,000 for her attorney fees, along with another $10,000 to cover the cost of hiring a forensic accountant.

Santiago had originally sought $30,000 per month in child support.

She argued that Pierce could afford the amount, pointing to her claim that he earned nearly $200 million during his NBA career.

Pierce disputed that characterization of his current finances.

He maintained that his financial situation is no longer comparable to what it was during his playing career and argued that monthly child support should instead be approximately $4,000.

The former Boston Celtics star also claimed Santiago has a successful career of her own and earns a substantial income.
