Omnium Shuts Down US Operations… For Now

Tariff policies from the current US administration continue to steamroll the cycling industry, forcing brands into challenging situations that inevitably lead to price increases, or in some cases, scaling or even shuttering operations. Almost everyone importing goods or materials in the US is subject to new fees and economic puzzles, including Denmark’s Omnium Cycles who made a formal announcement this week—a bitter roadblock considering how hard the brand has worked to bring their lineup of cargo bikes to US customers over the past couple of years.

Early this week, Omnium sent out an email explaining that its US operations are being put on hold. They are focusing their efforts in Denmark until either a solution is found or the complexities of importing into the US change. Here’s what the email said:

CHANGE IN US OPERATIONS

We regret to inform you that we have decided to change our operations in the United States for the time being.

We are working toward launching a website tailored for U.S. customers, featuring USD pricing and domestic shipping. We appreciate your patience as we make this transition.

Over the past three years, OMNIUM US has worked hard to establish a strong presence and serve our American customers with dedication. However, recent changes and increasing complexity in the U.S. import landscape have made it significantly more challenging to operate effectively. This has led us to the difficult decision to consolidate our efforts back in Denmark for now.
