Turki Alalshikh’s post on X on Wednesday about Tyson Fury returning to the ring next year for a possible third fight with Oleksandr Usyk during the Riyadh Season has created a backlash from fans. There’s a lack of demand for a trilogy match, given that Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) has won both fights with Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) convincingly.
Usyk Dominated Fury Twice
People don’t want to see a third fight after the way Usyk schooled the blubbery 281-lb Fury last December in their rematch. He’d also beaten ‘The Gyspy King’ in May of last year in a fight that was tainted by a bizarre standing eight count given to Fury when he was badly hurt in the ninth.
The outcome of a third Fury-Usyk fight is predictable at this point, because people have seen their first two contests. They know it’s going to be another one-sided beatdown in favor of Usyk.
Fans don’t want a third Fury-Usyk fight to be shoved down their throats by Turiki on DAZN PPV. The fights that fans want to see involving Fury are against these fighters:
- Anthony Joshua
- Moses Itauma
- Agit Kabayel
Fury’s 0-2 record in his last two fights makes him unworthy of a title shot against Usyk, because it cheapens the sport. If Fury wants a title shot, he needs to beat the top contenders who are in front of him.
Fury said on Wednesday that he’d be open to fighting Joshua for the right amount of money. He likely would insist on a payday of over $100 million at a minimum for the AJ fight. Given Fury’s 0-2 record in his last two fights, he doesn’t deserve a title shot.
“The ‘Gypsy King’ will be back!!! I talked with him, and I have his word to have him in Riyadh Season in 2026 … 🥊 We have a rabbit to hunt! 🐰🐇” said Turki Alalshikh on X about Tyson Fury coming out of retirement next year.
