Nikola Topic reflected on a challenging year that tested him both physically and mentally, saying the obstacles he faced ultimately helped him grow as a person.

The young Thunder guard, who battled and overcame testicular cancer during the 2025-26 season, spoke about the lessons he learned from the experience during Oklahoma City’s exit interviews.

“I learned a lot about myself,” Topic said.

He admitted that the adversity revealed a level of resilience he hadn’t fully recognized before.

“I didn’t know how tough I was, honestly.”

While describing the journey as difficult, Topic said he remains grateful for what it taught him.

“It wasn’t the best, but I’m grateful that I went through those experiences.”

The Serbian prospect believes those challenges helped shape who he is today and strengthened him for the future.

“I grew from those experiences as well and it made me a better person today.”

Now healthy and focused on basketball again, Topic is eager to move forward and begin the next stage of his career.

“I’m looking forward to getting ready to play.”
