The Brooklyn Nets have officially signed first-round pick Joshua Jefferson to his rookie-scale contract, the team announced in a press release.

Jefferson, the No. 28 overall selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, was unable to sign immediately because he was involved in a trade that was not finalized until Friday.

Originally drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Brooklyn’s behalf, he was acquired in the four-team deal that also brought Julius Randle to the Nets.

The former Iowa State forward is expected to earn approximately $2.97 million as a rookie and about $15.3 million over the first four years of his NBA career.

Jefferson spent two seasons at Saint Mary’s before transferring to Iowa State, where he started 70 games over the past two years.

As a senior, he averaged 16.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while earning Associated Press All-America Second Team honors.

Nets Summer League coach Dutch Gaitley said he hopes Jefferson will make his debut on Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks.
