Top UFC featherweight contender Movsar Evloev has revealed that his upcoming fight could be his last and stated the sole reason that might compel him to hang up his gloves.
Evloev will challenge current and two-time UFC 145-pound titleholder Alexander Volkanovski in the main event of UFC 333 in October. He defeated the previously undefeated Lerone Murphy earlier this year at UFC London in spectacular fashion to earn a title shot.
Ahead of the biggest fight of his career, the 32-year-old Russian phenom shares similar sentiments to Volkanovski.
For context, during a recent sit-down with 10 News, “The Great” confessed that if things go horribly wrong for him at UFC 333 and he takes a ton of beating and is dethroned, he would retire:
“If things go terribly wrong, alright, we’re done. If things go very well like the last one, no damage, alright we’ll keep it rolling. Take it each fight, as it goes. I’m just trying to be real with it. But I don’t have plans on retiring right now.”

Volk hints retirment if things go bad 😞.

Volkanovski had similar feelings even before the Diego Lopes title rematch earlier this year. However, after defending his title with a more dominant decision victory over Lopes, the Aussie signed a new contract with the UFC. Signing a fresh deal means “The Great” intends to fight for 2-3 more years, but a bad night against the undefeated Evloev could ruin his plans.

Movsar Evloev, meanwhile, after hearing Alexander Volkanovski’s latest comments, stated that he would even consider retirement if things play out terribly at UFC 333.
Evloev responded in the comments section of an Instagram post featuring Volkanovski’s latest potential retirement remarks. The Russian fighter wrote:
“Same thing. [I too will retire if things play out Real Bad at UFC 333].”
