This Saturday, September 26, Saku Tankodrome will host the fifth edition of the traditional Saku Tankodrome Motocross competition, bringing riders from six countries to Estonia. Now firmly established as one of the country’s premier sand-track events, the race is organized by the Krestinov family, Andres and Gert Krestinov, whose deep roots in the sport have helped shape the competition’s growing international reputation. Gert Krestinov is himself an accomplished sandmaster, having won the Lommel GP in the MX2 class back in 2008, giving the event a firsthand racing expertise behind the scenes.

This year’s headline attraction is US motocross legend Mike Alessi.

A two-time AMA Pro Motocross 450 class silver medalist, Alessi is best known for his exceptional starts, which earned him the nickname “Mr. Holeshot.” On the track, he’s distinguished by a relentless, aggressive riding style that never leaves fans indifferent.

“I’m really excited to come to Estonia. This is my first time here, and I’m ready to give it everything on the track and put on a great show for the fans,” Mike Alessi said about his upcoming appearance.

Alongside Alessi, the starting gate will include Charles Lefrancois of France, a podium finisher in European Supercross series; Swedish champions Danne Karlsson and Albin Gerhardsson; multiple-time Finnish champion Arttu Sahlsten; Edvards Bidzans of Latvia; and homegrown champions Gert Krestinov, Kaarel Tilk, Indrek Mägi, and Priit Rätsep. They’ll be joined on the track by numerous strong riders from Estonia and the Baltics.

“We’re very pleased that Saku Tankodrome Motocross has grown over the years to a level that draws riders from as far away as the USA. The international interest in our sand track and competition shows we’re on the right path,” said event’s main organizer Andres Krestinov.

The competition will feature the following classes: 65cc, 85cc, MX E, MX Women, MX D, MxV 40+, MxV 50+, MX C, Youth 125cc, and Men’s 500cc / Men’s 250cc.
