MMA veteran Michael Chandler has dismissed the idea of retiring from the sport despite his recent losing streak.

Over the course of the last few years, Michael Chandler has gone 0-4 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. His quest has always been to become a world champion in the promotion, but it seems like that will not come to fruition.

In his most recent outing, Michael Chandler was stopped in the first round by Mauricio Ruffy. As Ruffy prepares to fight for a possible championship opportunity of his own, Chandler’s future is in doubt.

As per Michael Chandler himself, though, he still thinks he has something left to give in the sport.

“I got bested, and that’s just the simple fact of the matter,” Chandler said on “The Ariel Helwani Show.” “The experience of the White House though was awesome. I guess I wasn’t able to enjoy the experience as much as I wanted to. … Life goes on. We shoot our shot. We go out there. As I’ve done my entire career since I was 14 years old when I first strapped on the amateur wrestling shoes, I’ve prepared perfectly.

“I prepared the best I could, I stepped into the octagon believing that I was going to put on the best performance I could, and that I was going to, and sometimes you come up short. With that being said, come back home, lick my wounds a little bit, but I’m a very, very wealthy man. I’ve got beautiful kids, my wife, tons of stuff going on outside of just fighting that I get to pour myself into and enjoy, and this road is not over yet. This train’s still got steam in it, so we’re just going to keep on going.”

Chandler was then asked about the damage he’s taken in his recent losses.

“You’d be silly not to worry about it a little bit,” Chandler said. “Do I pray about it a lot? Yes. Do I pray for protection over myself and my family every day? Of course. But I haven’t noticed anything, thank God. I haven’t noticed anything, still quick-witted, still pretty good on the mic, still pretty good speaking. … I don’t feel like I’ve lost a step whatsoever, so we’ll keep on going.”
