Jorge Masvidal recently weighed in on why a rematch between Justin Gaethje and Ilia Topuria is bigger than a fight between Arman Tsarukyan and ‘The Highlight.’

Following Tsarukyan’s stunning KO win at UFC 331, talks of him fighting for the title next have picked up pace.

Topuria, on the other hand, has been cleared to fight as well, after recovering from multiple facial injuries suffered at UFC Freedom 250. With the lightweight champion, Gaethje, yet to defend his belt, a potential fight against these two top contenders looms large.

Speaking about the same in a recent interview with Henry Cejudo on Full Send MMA, Masvidal explained why a rematch against Topuria is the bigger fight for Gaethje.

I think Arman right now, is as big as he’s ever been. Obviously he is massive. But, is he bigger than Ilia and is he bigger than Ilia after the Gaethje fight at the White House…I think Ilia still gets more views.

Masvidal could have possibly missed Gaethje’s comments during his recent appearance on the Flagrant podcast, where he named Tsarukyan as the one next in line if and when he defends his championship. He said:

He’s [Arman Tsarukyan] the next in line. If and when I defend this championship, that will be who I fight. I just don’t know right now…It cost me a lot. I need to recover…I’m just going to enjoy being the champion for the rest of the year. I’m going to make a business decision and a life decision whenever the time comes.

Henry Cejudo Believes Ilia Topuria Is ‘Getting the Game’

Henry Cejudo then appeared to agree with Jorge Masvidal’s take. He also went on to bring up Ilia Topuria creating the Justin Gaethje glove storyline, adding that the ‘Spaniard’ is getting the essence of the fight game. Cejudo said:

The Spaniard said he had some sh*t in your gloves. He creates that storyline. I think he is getting the game. Or at least I think he is.
