Marcos Llorente has broken his silence after pictures of him and Ferran Torres from their post-World Cup holiday in Ibiza sent social media into overdrive.

Llorente and Torres were both part of the Spain squad that lifted the World Cup for a second time this summer, with Torres coming off the bench to score the winner in the final against Argentina. Torres had already caused a stir on social media before the dust had even settled, wearing a red "Make Spain Great Again" cap during the team's victory parade through Madrid, sparking a wave of political debate over what the gesture was supposed to mean.

Llorente, who started twice in the group stage but was an unused substitute in the final, jetted off to Ibiza with Torres to celebrate once the tournament wrapped up.

Photos from the trip, showing the pair shirtless on a yacht, hugging and exchanging kisses on the cheek, quickly went viral, racking up millions of views. Llorente addressed the noise directly, responding to a fan on Instagram who asked why people had made such a fuss over Torres hugging him.

"It puzzles me that in 2026, two men showing affection towards each other is still a topic for discussion, but when I see the prevailing mentality, I understand it," he wrote.

The 31-year-old has been close with Torres since the pair made their Spain debuts together back in 2020, and has stressed the pictures were nothing more than a natural moment between two friends and teammates who had just achieved the biggest win of their careers.

Llorente is married to model and fitness influencer Patricia "Paddy" Noarbe. The pair met as teenagers at high school after Llorente lent her a philosophy book.

The World Cup winner proposed in 2021 on the pitch at Atletico Madrid's stadium, and the couple married in 2023 at La Fortaleza, a historic site on the Formentor Peninsula in Majorca.

Paddy was born in Oxford, England, to a Spanish family. She originally studied law and commerce before switching career paths entirely, moving into the world of wellbeing to become a coach and founder of the sportswear brand Boddy.

The couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Amor, in February 2025, with Paddy previously describing motherhood as the most magical experience of her life.
