Manchester United are now readying a bid for a "sensational" star, who could be in line to join after Ederson.

Man Utd keen on signing another midfielder after Ederson

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed Ederson is set to complete a move to Old Trafford from Atalanta, but a number of other deals could be in the pipeline, and two more midfielders may arrive before the transfer deadline.

Romano said: “And don’t forget that this is just the first one for Man Utd. They will do many other things on the market. At least one more midfielder because Casemiro is leaving, Manuel Ugarte is leaving, and so Man Utd are going to be very busy in the upcoming weeks.”

A deal is set to be finalised in early July, and the 26-year-old could be a like-for-like replacement for compatriot Casemiro, having also featured in a defensive role on a regular basis throughout his career to date.

As revealed by Romano, Ugarte's future is up in the air too, with United willing to accept bids of £35m for the Uruguayan, who has emerged as a target for Premier League rivals Newcastle United.

As such, signing at least one more midfielder could be of paramount importance, and the Red Devils have now set their sights on a Premier League star.

Man Utd preparing bid for Premier League star

In a post on X, reporter Gianluigi Longari has also claimed Man United want to make more additions to the midfield after Ederson, and they are now 'preparing an offer' for West Ham United star Mateus Fernandes.

The bid could be submitted 'in the coming days', and there have been reports West Ham may now be willing to cash-in for just £43m - £52m, having been relegated from the Premier League.

Liverpool are also preparing a move for the Portuguese maestro, but United are looking to steal a march on their rivals.

Fernandes has been hailed as "sensational" by Mark Carlaw of The West Ham Way podcast, and Roy Keane is also a big fan, with the legendary midfielder ranking him above the likes of Alex Scott, Carlos Baleba, Casemiro and Enzo Fernandez.

Baleba and Scott have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford, with talks recently being opened regarding a deal for the AFC Bournemouth star.
