Luka Doncic has made winning championships his central goal with the Los Angeles Lakers, saying he will not be satisfied until he helps the franchise add more titles.

In a personal essay titled “To Win It All: On Basketball and Belonging,” Doncic reflected on his arrival in Los Angeles and explained what wearing the Lakers’ purple and gold now means to him.

“I’m not sure that I ever could have imagined being here and wearing the purple and gold. It’s a wonderful surprise and it feels amazing and now I desperately want what all Lakers want. To win it all,” Doncic wrote. “I won’t rest until we win more championships.”

Doncic’s first full season with the Lakers showed why the franchise views him as the centerpiece of its future. The 27-year-old averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists in 64 games during the 2025-26 season, shooting 47.6% from the field, 36.6% from three-point range and 78.0% from the free-throw line.

His scoring output ranked among the highest of his career, while his playmaking continued to make him one of the league’s most influential offensive players. Doncic earned All-Star recognition and was named to the All-NBA First Team, while finishing fourth in MVP voting.

The production continued a remarkable individual trajectory that began when Doncic entered the NBA with the Dallas Mavericks in 2018. He has averaged 29.2 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.2 assists over his first eight seasons, earning five First Team All-NBA selections.

Doncic reached the NBA Finals with Dallas in 2024 before eventually moving to Los Angeles during the 2024-25 season. He averaged 28.2 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists in 28 regular-season games for the Lakers after the trade.

His partnership with the Lakers also placed him alongside LeBron James during the 2025-26 season. James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists in 60 games, while Austin Reaves contributed 23.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game.
