The Los Angeles Lakers have hired Miami Heat executive Eric Amsler as an assistant general manager.

Amsler brings extensive scouting experience, having worked for the Heat since 2004 across multiple personnel roles, most recently serving as the team's vice president of player personnel.

The hire marks the second major front-office addition by Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka this summer, following his stated goal of strengthening the team's front office. The Lakers previously hired former New Orleans Pelicans executive Rohan Ramadas as an assistant general manager focused on strategy and analytics.

"A lot of the infrastructure is being built," said Pelinka at the end of last season. "I'll be headed to the combine. We will continue to staff out with assistant general manager positions. There's a couple of those that we're currently interviewing for and have done an extensive dive in that process. Those will be two key pillars that we'll add for this offseason."

The move comes as the Lakers navigate a broader organizational transition, shifting from Mark Walter's ownership tenure to a new ownership group led by Josh Kushner and Bob Iger.
