NBA players have different paths to make it to the league and different ways to sustain themselves inside.

Jeremy Lin was an undrafted second-year guard who nearly got cut, but managed to have breakout games in consecutive matches with the New York Knicks.

When Lin had the momentum proving he belongs in the league, NBA legend Kevin Garnett shared a story about when former teammate Rajon Rondo dominated their matchup.

“When Jeremy Lin killed the league, seven, eight games went crazy… every day [Paul Pierce] come in, ‘Y’all see Jeremy Lin, God damn.’… [Rondo] like, ‘That dude trash… that dude aint’ s***. Wait till I see this dude.’ I’m like, ‘You know I’m riding with you. I’m nine-five all day.’ And I’ll be damn,” Garnett said, via Knuckleheads Podcast.

Garnett said that Rondo proved himself to prevent Lin’s burst after the Knicks faced the Boston Celtics.

“We played New York, it wasn’t even close… He was in the zone and he ate dude. He ate Jeremy. He stopped that little seven game whatever. We stopped it, and then dude went into a little slide after that,” he added.

The former Celtics floor general outplayed Lin, recording a historic triple-double of 18 points, 20 assists, and 17 rebounds in a 115-111 Celtics win over the Knicks.
