Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJulio Cesar Chavez has dismissed the idea that Roberto Duran would have beaten him during their primes, arguing that the Panamanian legend was never good enough to defeat him at 140 pounds.
The former three-division world champion also took a shot at Duran while discussing the long-running fantasy fight debate between the two Hall of Famers.
“Roberto Duran would never have beaten me. That b**** is just a f**** idiot. He always talks s**t,” said Julio Cesar Chavez to Luis Parra.
“I respect him, and I don’t answer him because he’s older than me, but he always talks crap; as if he was God.
“I know he remembers that Camacho beat him up.”
Chavez made the comments while revisiting comparisons between himself and Duran, two of the most accomplished fighters in boxing history.
Duran captured world titles in four weight classes and built his reputation as one of the sport’s all-time greats, while Chavez became a Mexican boxing icon during a career that included world titles in three divisions and a 90-fight unbeaten streak.
The two legends never fought, leaving fans to debate how a matchup between them would have played out during their best years. Chavez, however, does not appear to have any doubts about the outcome.
“Roberto Duran would never have beaten me,” Chavez said.
The former champion made it clear he believes he would have beaten Duran. Chavez believes he would have had the upper hand against the former four-division champion.
