Usman Nurmagomedov didn’t forget Jon Jones’ viral reaction to Song Yadong’s knockout win over his cousin, Umar at UFC Shanghai.

UFC heavyweight prospect Gable Steveson suffered the first loss of his young MMA career in shocking fashion last weekend at UFC 331. Just seconds into his fight with Sean Sharaf, Sharaf knocked out Steveson with a vicious left hook in one of the biggest upsets in UFC history.

Steveson’s loss happened just feet away from Jon Jones, who is Steveson’s longtime coach and cornerman. Jones escorted Steveson out of the Octagon immediately after the fight instead of waiting to congratulate Sharaf and his team as the official result was announced.

Just weeks before UFC 331, Jones was in Shanghai as bantamweight contender Song Yadong knocked out Umar Nurmagomedov in a stunning result. Yadong celebrated with a cageside Jones immediately after the fight, as Usman Nurmagomedov and the rest of Umar’s team attended to their fallen teammate.

After watching Steveson’s knockout loss, Usman took a parting shot at Jones over his viral cageside reaction at UFC 331.

Usman Nurmagomedov jabs Jon Jones following Gable Steveson’s KO

In a recent Instagram story post, Nurmagomedov mocked Jones’ immediate reaction to Steveson’s knockout loss.

“You know what a boomerang is, Jon? S— happens,” Nurmagomedov said to Jones.

“Good luck to your boyfriend in the future!”

As of this writing, neither Jones nor Steveson has responded to Nurmagomedov’s comments.

Usman could potentially sign with the UFC after declining the Professional Fighters League’s initial offer in free agency. Usman hasn’t fought since defending his PFL lightweight title against Archie Colgan earlier this year.

Jones remains hopeful that Steveson will turn things around after UFC 331, but Steveson suffered a fate the former two-division champ never did during his UFC career. In either case, Usman and others are calling out Jones for perceived hypocrisy.
