Both teams had been linked to the Celtics star as Boston continues to evaluate trade possibilities, but league sources indicate neither franchise is currently engaged in serious discussions to acquire Brown.
Houston has an obvious connection through head coach Ime Udoka, who coached Brown during Boston’s run to the 2022 NBA Finals.
The Rockets have also previously shown a willingness to enter trade talks only after asking prices decline, as was the case with their eventual deal for Kevin Durant.
Boston, meanwhile, is known to have interest in Rockets center Alperen Sengun, though no deal between the two clubs is believed to be progressing.
Charlotte also possesses significant draft capital following its blockbuster trade that sent LaMelo Ball to the Timberwolves, but the Hornets are likewise not considered active suitors for Brown at the moment.
Brown remains eligible to sign a two-year, $141.8 million contract extension in July, while the Trail Blazers continue to be viewed as the team most frequently connected to Boston in ongoing trade discussions.
