Tottenham Hotspur signed Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig earlier this summer, and the player has revealed how Timo Werner played a key role in his transfer.

The Netherlands International knows Werner from their time at the German club, and he has revealed that the German International gave him a glowing recommendation of the club and the fans before his move.

Timo Werner’s advice for Simons

Werner never really managed to establish himself as an important player for Tottenham during his 18 months on loan, but he holds the club in high regard. His positive account of the North London club certainly helped convince Simons to join the club.

“He told me a lot about the club’s greatness and the fantastic fans,” said Simons (h/t Standard). “And he said he thought it was the right place for me to learn and improve. Thanks for your trust, Timo!”.

Xavi Simons could be a star

The 22-year-old will look to establish himself as a key player for the North London outfit. He is a tremendous talent with a bright future, and he is expected to replace club legend Son Heung-min.

The South Korean international moved to the MLS earlier this summer, and Tottenham needed a dynamic attacker like Simons to replace him. The Netherlands international has the technical attributes to develop into a top-class player, and it will be interesting to see if you can adapt to the Premier League quickly. He is young enough to improve further, and he could develop into a future star with the right guidance.

He has proven himself in Germany, and the opportunity to showcase his qualities in England will be quite exciting for him. It remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running at his new club now.
