Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayJosh Toth is damn good on a motorcycle, there is no questioning that. The Connecticut native has been a competitor in the Progressive Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Racing series for many years, and won the 2017 XC2 Championship. After several seasons as part of KTM's factory off-road program, he's really found his footing by racing a variety of events, sometimes under his own privateer program. This year he's back on a factory team via Stu Baylor's Rocky Mountain/Red Bear Kawasaki squad, but he's still proving quite versatile.
Toth came to The Wick 338, the AMA Pro Motocross Championship round about 30 minutes from where he lived growing up. Toth raced the 2023 Southwick National, finishing 22-21 for 24th overall in an impressive effort. We have seen GNCC racers jump into Pro Motocross before, including Josh Strang, Barry Hawk, Kailub Russell, and many more, so it is not uncommon, although certainly not easy.
In 2024, Toth, on his own privateer team, won a GNCC overall from the second row, riding a 250F. That was the first time anyone had ever accomplished the feat, but there's since been a flood of XC2 riders taking GNCC overalls. That now includes Toth this year, as he won the overall win the Snowshoe GNCC in West Virginia last Sunday, again from the XC2 class! And he beat his boss, Baylor, to take the race win.
At The Wick 338, Toth was on his KX450 practice bike with some moto suspension, taking in his home race, as did fellow GNCC Racing competitor Mike Witkowski. Toth was out of a qualifying position but when Jeff Walker got penalized one position for jumping on a red cross flag, Toth slotted into the final gauranteed spot in the motos. Witkowski landed in the motos as well. The two were even on the track near each other during qualifying and in the motos! Toth finished 25-26 for 25th overall as Witkowski finished 31-23 for 28th overall.
Then, Toth and his crew hopped in his van after the motos and hauled ass to Ohio for the Little Racoon National Enduro. He ended up winning the event overall on Sunday. Impressive weekend for talented New England native! Toth had to beat his boss again to do it, as he topped both Baylor bothers (Stu Jr. and Grant) in what was a podium sweep by the Rocky Mountain/Red Bear Kawasaki team.
At Southwick, Toth finished 25-26 for 25th overall as Witkowski finished 31-23 for 28th overall.
